Integrative, not instead-of

Acupuncture and holistic care work alongside your pet's regular vet and specialists — never as a replacement for diagnostics or emergency care.

Built for the hard cases

Seniors with arthritis, post-surgical recovery, cancer support, and pets too anxious for a waiting room are exactly who this practice is for.

Transparent from the start

Real starting prices, a clear first-visit process, and honest referrals out whenever a case needs more than acupuncture can offer.

Your veterinarian

A decade of emergency medicine behind every gentle needle.

ZenPaws is led by Jennifer Blake, DVM — a Florida-licensed veterinarian who traded the ER for a treatment table in your living room, without leaving the clinical judgment behind.

Dr. Blake earned her DVM from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007, graduating with honors. She spent the years that followed as an emergency and critical care veterinarian at a busy Chicago-area specialty and emergency hospital, where she learned to read a patient fast and trust very little to guesswork.

She later added a small animal ultrasonography certification from the University of Illinois, a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) credential through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute, and a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA) credential through Chi University. Each one was chosen to fill a gap she kept seeing from the exam room: pets who needed more pain control and mobility support than a single appointment could offer.

The push toward integrative, in-home care was personal. Her own Newfoundland, Argus, developed orthopedic issues that acupuncture and rehab work helped manage well beyond what medication alone could do — and convinced her that this kind of care belongs at a pet's own pace, in their own home.

How it works

From first call to ongoing care, in four visits or fewer.

01

Phone or text intake

We talk through your pet's condition, prior workup, and goals, and flag anything better suited to a specialist referral.

02

In-home consultation

A full history and exam at your home establishes the veterinary relationship — required under Florida law before any treatment begins.

03

First treatment, same visit

Your pet's first acupuncture session happens right after the exam, on their own bed or favorite spot.

04

Follow-up rhythm

Most chronic cases return every 3–4 weeks; brief telehealth rechecks are available between visits for established patients.

Good to know

Common questions

Who will actually be treating my pet?

Jennifer Blake, DVM, personally performs every visit. She's a Florida-licensed veterinarian with a background in emergency and critical care medicine, and holds both CVA (Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist) and CCRT (Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist) credentials. More on her background →

Does my pet need to see you in person before treatment starts?

Yes. Florida law requires an in-person exam to establish care before any treatment, including acupuncture, can begin. Telehealth is available afterward for quick rechecks on existing patients only.

Is acupuncture a replacement for my pet's regular vet?

No — it's designed to work alongside your primary-care veterinarian and any specialists. We coordinate directly with your pet's existing care team and refer out for anything outside an integrative scope.

What conditions respond well to acupuncture?

Arthritis and joint pain, degenerative disc disease, post-surgical and orthopedic rehab, age-related mobility decline, and supportive care alongside cancer treatment are the most common reasons pets are referred here.

Do you carry sedatives or controlled substances?

Treatment relies on gentle, fear-free handling first. Any medication needs are discussed and prescribed conservatively, with full transparency about what's used and why.
